About this Course
A Heavy Rigid Vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) over 18,000kg is covered under the Class 4 license course.
Course Prerequisites
A valid New Zealand Class 4 Learner License is required for enrollment in this course.
Course Outline
Theory Course
Day 1 (In-classroom Theory)
Unit Standard 24089 – Exhibit awareness of fatigue management, work time, and driver logbook necessities.
Day 2 (In-classroom Theory)
Unit standard 17576 – Control a rigid vehicle to meet the requirements for a full class 4 driver licence.
Practical drives
Class 4 Practical Training Session:
3hour practical preparation session in class 4 manual truck.
Class 4 Practical Assessment:
1.5hour practical valuation in class 4 manual truck. Any additional practical training or re-assessment sessions are subject to additional fees; for more information, please contact our office.
You will receive a NZ Transport Agency certificate upon successful completion of your training program. You must present this certificate to any NZTA-approved Driver Licensing Agency (AA or VTNZ) to have your license upgraded to a Full Class 4 Licence without the need for additional testing. You will receive credit for both unit standards (US 24089 & US 17576) on your NZQA Records of Learning.
Until your Full Class 4 has been uploaded to your driver’s license, you are NOT authorized to drive without a supervisor on public roads.
